Psychological attention
ITEI offers psychological and psychotherapeutic care to support the affected people and their families. ITEI provides help with rehabilitation and assists people to overcome the psychosocial consequences of torture. Psychological and psychotherapeutic support is provided in regular and specific consultations to people suffering from psychic, psychosomatic and psychosocial disorders caused by torture and other cruel, inhuman and degrading treatment. Psychological attention is delivered in:

-
In the office of ITEI in La Paz
-
In the prisons of La Paz, such as the Miraflores High-Security Prison for Women, the Obrajes Women's Orientation Center, Qalauma youth prison and the San Pedro prison for men.
Our psychological attention is psychoanalytic, systemic and psychosocial. ITEI treats individuals, families, couples and groups, serving adults, youth and children. For example, there are specific psychotherapy sessions for children who live with their mothers in prisons, these are organised together with the mother and the child. ITEI also intervenes in emergency and crises situations and provides focal and long-term treatments. When necessary, our staff travel to places where there are people affected.

Assistance in cases of emergency and social crisis

ITEI responds to unforeseen events through emergency projects, to provide adequate psychological and psychotherapeutic care to the affected people. We have intervened in this way in October 2003 in the city of El Alto during the gas war; and in 2008 in Chuquisaca after the events of May 24, in Pando after the events of September 11 and in the Alto Parapeti after the mournful events of March and April.
